Museum of a memory is based on the script of
The Jetty (1962) ; a “photo-roman” movie by
Chris Marker where a man can time travel to the past by conjuring specific powerful memories, in order
to change the future. The artist produces a new flash-back herself by filming again, shot after shot, the main scene where the original protagonists met
in the Natural History Museum of Paris.
Instead of a black and white diaporama, there are video shots with evaporating colors and hesitating stillness. We are eye to eye with the fluctuant frontiers between man and animal, moving and unmoving, life and death, real and fantasy, memory and forgiveness, original and copy.
